..very distrubing to hear that a man threatening self harm was allegedly shot by police...i thought the idea these days is to stop those threatening self harm, to prevent them from harming themselves...i suppose the up side to this if we can call it that, is as least it removes the self harm element for this gentleman .Thinking of the big picture if we now applied this strategy on a more national basis to all those that threatened self harm were to be shot ,then we could wipe out this national mental health issue...obviously the down side is that the hospitals, doctors and nurses would be flat out mending people with gun shot wounds...but hey its only an idea...Tartly Roud

Great idea Tartly, I do concur. While we're at it, why not require nurses to infect visitors to hospitals with exotic, non-life threatening diseases. That way they can be diagnosed, admitted to the ward and can top and tail their ailing friend and/or relative. No more being kicked out at the close of visitors hours! I'm all for the promotion of quality family time. Worth an email to Canberra. Hmmm? Would love your thoughts on this, Philippe xxx
ReplyDeleteDear Phillipe, normally i dont communicate with unknowns but on this occasion i will make an exception..medical rationalisation is very responsible as it saves money and time...though in my experience as a professional, it saved very few lives...Canberra will listen when they answer the phone..Tartly
